Michaela Fogarty has told how she tried to stop husband Carl going on I’m A Celebrity because she thought he would end up rowing with the others.
But the mum-of-two admitted she is shocked by just how well behaved the fiery Superbikes champ is in the jungle and astonished that he is now one of the favourites to win.
And Michaela reckons Foggy’s relationship with former soccer star Jimmy Bullard is helping him deal with working as a team after a glittering career in the cut-throat world of motor bike racing.
The 46-year-old said: “I think they have kidnapped Carl and put a twin in there because I am learning to see him in a way I haven’t before.
“It has really surprised me... and we have been together 28 years.
"Carl wasn’t a team player because his sport was a solo one. There is a pantomime villain every year and I thought he is gonna be it.

"I was worried about him doing it, going in there and if he came across people he didn’t know, that there might be some conflict. But he has really surprised me. He is doing really well.”
Foggy’s antics with Jimmy in the jungle, where the two have been seen hugging and kissing – leading to the pair being nicknamed “Joggy”– have amused Michaela.
She added: “The two of them are like two feral kids running around. I think they are enjoying it too much. It is like I’m A Celebrity... Keep Me In Here for them two.”

Carl’s agent said he has even been asked about making a “Joggy” calendar, such is the appeal of the pals.
And Michaela joked that she would not be surprised if Jimmy turns up at their house on Christmas Day.
But she is desperately looking forward to spending proper family time with Carl and their two daughters Claudia and Danielle during the festivities after being deprived of her husband so long.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she admitted she is struggling to cope without seeing him. She said: “What do I want for Christmas? My Carl back.
"I am missing him like crazy and I am all over the place, very up and down.
“He is handling it better than I am because he has got Jimmy. He has been gone three weeks, I have never gone a day without speaking to him.

“The longest I haven’t seen him was during racing and I was pregnant and unable to go, but 10 days is probably the maximum. So this is killing me.
“What is the first thing I will do when I see him? I will tell him I love him and cry obviously. I miss him that much. It’s really pathetic but that’s how close we are. We are together the whole time.”
Asked why Carl, 49, should win, Michaela replied: “Because he’s gone in there and he’s been true to himself. What you see on TV is what he’s like in real life and I’m proud of that.”
