Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy top list of tragic celebrity breakups this summer

Breaking up is hard to do, but so many celebrity couples have taken a trip to Splitsville this summer. It’s a bummer to hear about Ben Affleck and Jennifer GarnerReba McEntire and Narvel BlackstockBlake Shelton and Miranda LambertGwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.
But it’s really word of the latest Hollywood split that has us in a tizzy.
It’s just so hard to wrap our minds around the fact that Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy are kaput. They always looked so happy together until Tuesday, when he told reporters that his life had become “a bacon-wrapped hell.”
KLG: I’m sorry, but I saw this coming years ago.
HK: Yeah, Kath always did. She always said the frog seemed to have a wandering eye, and Miss Piggy ... what a temper.
KLG: I’ll say it. The last time he was here, Kermit was flirting with me and Hoda.
HK: That green little guy seemed a little hot to trot when he was around.
KLG: He was even flirting with Wrangler, our “Today” show dog. Hey, it’s 2015. We don’t judge. What's so wrong about a little interspecies mingling? But know what, the porker should have just understood it for just the light flirtation that it was, but she made such a pig of herself.
HK: Yes. But as we all know, Kermit’s got a thing for pigs.
KLG: I said to Miss Piggy, “Really, if you don’t nip this thing in the bud, it’s going to take over.” Jealousy is a horrible, horrible thing.
HK: It was all her.
KLG: We’re total Team Kermie.
HK: But who should Miss Piggy date? Who should the pig date?
KLG: The pig should date …
HK: A giant hog.
KLG: I think she should date the Oscar Mayer weiner.

Netflix is offering unlimited maternity and paternity leave to its workers.

NETFLIX IS FAMILY FRIENDLY
They really are geniuses at Netflix. Along with changing the face of television, the company is offering unlimited maternity and paternity leave to its employees during the first year after a child’s birth or adoption.
HK: Paid? Unlimited? How can you afford that?
KLG: It’s extremely generous, obviously. But I don’t understand that company. I wish I had some stock in it, because obviously they are very, very smart people.
HK: When you offer someone unlimited something — it’s like, have all you can eat. You also learn about your employees, because if you offer someone a year of leave and someone takes all 365 days, it does tell you a little bit more about that person. I think it’s incredible to offer leave during that time when moms are trying to feed their kids and do all the new stuff they’re trying to do — this really takes it to a whole new level.

NOT PART OF THE AMY ACT
Amy Schumer and her cousin Sen. Chuck Schumer held ajoint press conference to address gun violence this week. The comic has been extremely upset over how a man opened fire in a movie theater on a crowd watching her new film, “Trainwreck.”
KLG: She sounds like she’s truly wondering if she’s in any way responsible. I certainly hope she doesn’t think so.
HK: But you know what I love about her? You could tell this is really hurting her and she’s so genuine about her pain.
KLG: It’s obvious she wasn’t doing the press conference because her publicist said it would be good for her image.
HK: Sometimes, when you’re in comedy, you can get pigeonholed as someone who’s just funny, and when you see the other side of a person like this, it’s very eye-opening.
A FINGER ON THE PULSE
The release of Windows 10 offers new emojis: a series of middle fingers in various skin tones.
HK: I’ve seen it. But I can’t use it, because I have an NBC phone and they spy on you. They know what’s on our phones.
KLG: I don’t use emojis. I’m old. We’ve been over this.

HK: I knew she was going to say that. I just knew she was going to sayBeyoncé. Because who doesn’t want to be Beyoncé?
KLG: I don’t. I’d want to be my daughter, Cassidy.
HK: I was going to say Beyoncé before FLOTUS said it, because, I’m sorry, there’s something about that. Just for a week. I don’t want to be in it for life.

THE MARK OF HUMANITY

KLG: I think it humanized him. It was really touching.
